Mexico: First stepts of the Cabinet of Enrique Peña Nieto

Due to the recent change in the Mexican GovernmentAlejandro Romero –Partner and CEO in Latin America–, Juan Rivera –Partner and Managing Director in Mexico– and Alejandro Pulido –Manager of Public Affairs in Mexico– have drafted a special report analyzing the initial composition of the Cabinet with which President Enrique Peña Nieto is starting his six-year term, integrating a structure headed by his closest strategists in economic, political and social affairs.

With this division of forces, Peña Nieto seeks to resolve the main concern of Mexican citizens, the prevailing insecurity that has affected the country in recent years. Moreover, the economic structure has been enhanced in order to provide the stability and certainty that international markets require. As regards the social sphere, even though it was not considered to be one of the priorities for this term, it has been the first sector to show results through specific actions, within the first 60 days after the reelection.

In this context, companies need to develop their knowledge of the contextual situation, their relations with the main stakeholders and, generally speaking, their strategic communication of actions that enhance their approach towards the institutions.

We hope this report is useful for clients interested in public affairs and we are sure it will be valuable for their daily relationship with their stakeholders.
