Overview of Latin America Press. The pre-Internet boom

Contrary to what happens in regions such as Europe or the United States, Latin America is experiencing a positive era for the development of the press. The improvement of the economic situation and the increase of the emerging classes have entailed an enhancement in press consumption.

However, countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile are facing a much different context, the known as “crisis of the loss of readers” and the boom of online press. And everything seems to point out that this will be the future of the region in the long term.

Therefore, written media must find solutions to adapt itself to the digital revolution, providing mechanisms that promote the transition towards the Internet model and, at the same time, create survival models.

The new report highlights the keys for the present and future of the press in Latin America, taking into account all the trends of the various countries within the region.
