UNO #21: UE-LATAM: a relationship based on shared values

Relations between Europe and Latin America have deep roots and a long tradition. We share the same values and a vision of a more cooperative world order based on strong regionalism. But we must raise our ambitions.

In addition, those relations are not immune to developments and changes in the global board. In this sense, the rise of China as an economic power has declined in some ways the European Union’s intensity of its relationship with Latin America

Moreover, at a time when the global economic axis appears to be moving from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific one, Latin America is no longer peripheral but occupies a central place.

Therefore, the relationship between Europe and Latin America continues to provide opportunities to deepen strong ties and take advantage of the synergies already established. However, they need a renewal based on a new paradigm, mechanisms and strategies that serve to meet current and future challenges.
