The U.S. elections and their implications for Latin America

The United States will experience a great change both internally and in its external relations when the 45th president takes their oath Jan. 20. At the same time, Latin America is undergoing a period of change marked by political, economic and social changes.

In this context, the question is how relations between both regions will evolve after the new U.S. president takes office. This report analyzes the candidates’ positions in regard to Latin America, also bringing to light the possible scenarios that could take place once the elected candidate is sworn in as president.
