UNO #16 Natural Resources: conomic development and social and regulatory risks

The Natural Resources business in the world and especially in Latin America, has become the focus of foreign interests.

However, despite all the benefits and opportunities of wealth that this implies for the receiving countries, in parallel, are also emerging conflicts with the emergence of opposition groups, as are the native population, indigenous groups, environmental groups, local businesses or organizations nongovernmental strong- who worry immediate and strategic impact that these companies leave the area in the environmental and social fields.

This issue analyses the current context surrounding the exploitation of natural resources and conflicts and social risks that may emerge and the way governments are to manage, under a policy of sustainable development, transparency and commitments social with the region.
